The announcement of the Star Wars Episode VII cast sent a shock wave through the universe not seen since the destruction of Alderaan (too soon?), but what about the returning, original trilogy actors? How much of the 92,742 mentions surrounding this announcement focused on them? It shouldn’t be a surprise that Harrison Ford (Han Solo) pulled a whopping 10.3% of total Star Wars Episode VII buzz, earning more than even Oscar Issac, the most discussed member of the new cast. Aside from the scruffy looking nerf herder’s immense fan base, many film sites have been reporting the strong possibility that Han Solo is a key player in the new film’s plot.
The now very grown Skywalker offspring, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and Leia Organa Skywalker (Carrie Fischer), pulled in 6.8 and 6.6 percent respectively. Their parts have remained a total mystery and many have wondered if they will be able to swing the more acrobatic light saber moves.
Some classic supporting characters also managed to get a piece of the action, with returning Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew pulling 1.58%. Fans are definitely eager to see the Wookiee take Harrison Ford’s side again. Meanwhile, the most iconic robots in film history, R2-D2 and C-3P0, pulled in only 1.5 and 1.4% respectively. When reached for comment on their low buzz, C-3P0 offered, “Sometimes I just don’t understand human behavior.” As for R2-D2’s response, we decided not to post it as it was mostly bleeped out anyway.
