Since its premiere in 2013, Brooklyn Nine-Nine has asserted itself as a fan favorite on the FOX network. The cop comedy starring Andy Samberg, who plays a nonchalant police officer with the best arrest record in Brooklyn's 99th precinct, has sparked laughter in audiences for years, and the most recent season conclusion showed no signs of stopping anytime soon.
We took a look at the season 3 finale of FOX’s cop comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which aired Tuesday night. Canvs detected 1,811 Emotional Reactions (ERs) out of 4,014 tweets captured by Nielsen. The main ERs fell into the “love” (23.1%), “crazy” (8.3%), “good” (5.6%), “excited” (4.0%), “cool” (1.5%), and “beautiful” (1.3%) categories, with “funny” dominating at 51.1% (vs. 5.0% “dislike, hate”). For the night, the reaction rate was 45.1%, averaging over 3 reactions per minute.
The most emotionally resonant actor on the show was Terry Crews -- who plays Sgt. Jeffords, a devoted family man -- and was referenced in over 50.0% of all ERs on the night.
In the closing moments of the finale, there was a spike in “excited” ERs amongst fans, with 75.0% mentioning season 4. There was also a spike in “love” ERs, with 26.5% referencing ‘finale,’ 23.5% mentioning ‘ending,’ and 17.6% citing ‘next season.’
With fans’ overwhelming response to the finale last night, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine accounting for 71.3% of all “funny” ERs on the entire FOX network yesterday, it’s no wonder season 4 was already confirmed.
