Electronic Dance Music (EDM) has taken the music industry (and the Mashwork office) by storm. Ticketing and event leader Eventbrite tapped us to help them understand how social media fuels the EDM audience. It turns out social media sharing is a major part of the EDM lifestyle. EDM aficionados are much more active on social media than fans of other genres, and 1 in 3 of their posts are related to EDM in some way. Megan O'Brien, the lead Mashwork designer on this project said that the most surprising finding for her was that fans didn't show much allegiance to particular artists. "As an EDM fan, I found it interesting that other people exhibit less fandom for specific artists and more around EDM in general." O'Brien explained, "When I go to a concert I always mention the artist by name, so apparently I'm unusual."
