Reaction Breakdown by Percentage (%)

COLBERT’S OPENING MONOLOGUE

Stephen Colbert’s hilarious monologue from 11:35 to 11:40 p.m had nearly 2,000 fans expressing their love, excitement, or happiness. That five-minute time frame, alone, accounted for 7% of total reactions to the premiere.

GEORGE CLOONEY AS COLBERT’S FIRST GUEST

George Clooney holds the distinction of being the show’s first guest, an honor that was especially meaningful given he had “nothing to push.” At 31%, love was the top emotional driver in Clooney conversation, followed by 18% good and 11% excited.

BUSH GEARS UP FOR 2016

Never does it fail in late night talk shows to have political topics arise. 2016 Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush made a guest appearance on The Late Show and drove 1,720 reactions.

While 21% of Jeb Bush conversation expressed love, it was mainly driven by Colbert’s witty interview tactics reminiscent of his The Colbert Report persona.

CURSED AMULET PROMOTES SABRA

It wasn’t just star political and movie power that got fans reacting. Brands also played a big part in the premiere. Sabra sponsored a segment (thanks to the help of Colbert’s reptilian overlord)  inspiring a total of 884 reactions, 70% of which expressed congrats.

Between Colbert’s tribute-filled opening monologue, his crowd-pleasing guests, and his unique brand integrations, Colbert’s Late Show debut was one which generated enough buzz to keep viewers coming back for more. We’re staying tuned to see how future episodes fare with the Twitter audience.
